While on the whole the insurance sector has shown solidarity and followed Bercy’s recommendations, freezing restaurant premiums for example, more conflictual situations have arisen concerning the activation of business interruption cover.
Total or partial closure
Some insurers – including Axa, which took an early stance on the issue – have interpreted contractual clauses restrictively, excluding Covid decrees from the causes of closure covered by the policy.
